To me, the most crushing Rams defeat occurred on this date in 1969. After the only 11-0 start in Rams history, the season came to an abrupt end in Minnesota. That Rams team had the NFL MVP in Roman Gabriel, along with Deacon Jones and Merlin Olsen. George Allen was the head coach, but that was his final playoff game with the Rams. One of the reasons that date is branded into my memory is that the Vikings fans unraveled a banner with that date in the stands. The Rams got off to a 17-7 halftime lead, but they couldn't hold on in the second half and lost 23-20.
