You don't have to be an elite coordinator to win as a head coach. But the things you do need to be good at, starting with culture and accountability and getting a room of guys all going in the same direction are things he is good at.
Really hope he gets a HC gig. Not only does he deserve it but it is good for this league to promote a guy who can actually lead, instead of overfocusing on coordinator know-how. It is important to have that edge schematically, but that stuff is back seat to leadership when you talk about head coaches.
He nets us 2 3rd round picks which would be huge. I worry about who he would take with him though. I like our defensive staff.
Yeah that's a big deal for McVay. My guess is he and Raheem have already made that agreement if he gets a gig. It will be either Henderson or Pleasant.
Henderson is immensely valuable in how he gets the most from the defensive front. But Pleasant has absolutely killed it this year. If I had to guess who stays right now I'd say Pleasant because I think McVay prioritizes secondary expertise. But it feels like a coin flip almost so I might say Henderson next week. Best guess from where I'm sitting is one or the other goes with Raheem.
