I don't mean to be a party pooper, but our DB's (almost all of them!) just aren't good enough. We're getting the best we can out of pretty mediocre talent -- at CB and safety - kudos to the players and coaches for making that happen. Don't get me wrong, the effort is there. The play sometimes solid. But consistent coverage skills, speed, tackling, all are lacking. HELP WANTED: a few studs. My take: Fuller is smart, savvy, but slow. Kendrick is slow (aggressive, nasty, and mean -- all good) and wildly inconsistent in coverage. John J is consistent and smart, but has limited upside. Some these guys were late draft picks for a reason: largely due to their lack of physical traits. The other corners (e.g. Durant (meh), etc.) run hot and far too often cold. I think Lake has the most upside of any of the group in his hybrid role.
Next year-- DB (2-3 new ones), tackle, and an edge must be high on Snead's list. Even an investment at DT with AD getting a bit older and always talking retirement is in the offing.
