McVay has gone through some ST coaches now. One of the guys he pushed out the door was a well established and quality coach for sure. So maybe the issue lies in the selection priority in the bottom of the roster.
McVay is a great coach. Maybe even the best in the league. But he is not perfect and one of his weaknesses has been prioritizing upside on the depth chart instead of filling ST roles. As an example in what world is our current lineup of returners good enough. We have zero chance to bust a big return which for many units around the league will give you a win here or there. With our ST unit best we can hope for is decent field position and not screwing up.
