they are in a position of strength

Meaning they have options. They could certainly upgrade at either/both LT and C, yet also they don't necessarily have to. As you said, neither Jackson or Shelton are liabilities at their positions.

Like QB, LT is not a position they should force in the 1st round. Maybe the Draft plays out where a LT is a great option. And if so I'm all for it. But as their draft slotting becomes murkier (could be 12th? could be 18th/19th?) the worst thing a team can do is say "we need X...." Maybe they are picking 15th and a really good Edge rusher makes the most sense there. Etc.

Same at center. They will move on from Noteboom and Allen (saving $9.9M in cap space) but that requires also bolstering depth. Anchrum is also a FA. If they draft a LT high then Jackson would be a great upgrade as the swing backup OT. Drafting a center in the middle rounds would make sense too- put him behind Shelton and groom him for 2025. They will also have McClendon who can be a greater depth piece on the right side.

A lot of options. And of course there is the Dotson issue. Can they get him for $6-8M/year? Great.. Will some team come after him and offer $11M/year? If so I really doubt the Rams are going there and then dipping back into FA for a RG probably becomes a need.
