Allen's catch was better-than-textbook. He had to extend down, adjust his hand position, secure the ball knee-high without falling forward, turn and keep his balance.
Higbee's drop? A professional football player ought to know better - lazy heels of hands catch on an "easy" throw and catch? First, Stafford had plenty of zip on it to secure the completion as coverage closed on the receiver. You don't even try to catch a soft "touch" pass like that - it'll spin out of your grasp.
Stafford has a gun and can throw the football real hard. Higbee should know that - and should, in ANY situation, much less a touchdown throw, catch the ball the best way he knows how. And he has to know better than to do what he did.
I'd romp on a high school kid, halfway through the season, who let a touchdown slip through his hands like that.
To this point I've viewed the criticism of Higbeen on this board as fan rant stuff. Dropping one easy touchdown because of poor fundamentals is a very small sample size - but enough evidence to leave me disgustipated.
