Re: When will teams and fans get it: athlete QBs are a huge risk

Yup, I prize...
Adequate enough arm strength (Warner did not own a gun for an arm), quick processing and solid decision-making ability, able to read defenses and well above average accuracy.

How they look and run around in tights and scrambling ability is a tertiary factor at best.

Sometimes one truly has to wonder what nonsense many of these GMs and head coaches have in their heads after seeing bust after bust like this for multiple decades and then still sign these boneheads to large 2nd contracts and/or draft them with TOP 5-10 picks.

Wilson was one of the few exceptions that made it work for several years but age and wear and tear caught up to him. He never developed into a truly exceptional passer, therefore could not last well into his late 30s or even 40s like some of the top pocket passers do.

It's bad enough that he's an athlete QB. But he's also not a very good human being. It's almost like karma is catching up to him (not that I believe in karma).
Despite all this, the Browns signed this guy to a record breaking, 100% guaranteed contract, which explains everything a person needs to know about the Browns and their ownership.

Funny how teams and fans always want to point to the exception to the rule about athlete QBs. The very few that actually survive for a few years. But almost always (as with Russell Wilson for example) they get beat up so badly over their first 3 or 4 years that they stop running so much and as a result their game impact diminishes.

I do NOT want the Rams to acquire an athlete QB. A pocket passer who can improvise is the way to go; certainly mobile in the pocket is a must. But not a guy who makes the highlight reels because of his running.
