Given the options that you point out lets not pretend that there are not more promising options we could have pursued as FA or future prospects.
Wentz is not going to be the MVP talent he used to be prior to his injury and descent from the "Elite" crown.
Anyone could see that his penchant for hero ball was his Achilles. A seasoned veteran now he should be a formidable back-up and able to muster up some occasional heroics' ala Dak Prescott but there are some young QBs on rosters that have added new blood to them that also could have been had and allow us the opportunities to see them up close and decide if they could be future stars when they once were thought to have such potential. Josh Dobbs was no secret and yes we saw him go to another team knowing what was in his tool box. Heck we played him and you could see some promise. Today you need a player that can make off schedule plays and personally I believe we could have done better even before the draft because, Bennet is not that guy. What is he Baker Mayfield's equal. We can and could do better in the draft and FA prior to Wentz agreement to sign with Rams.
We messed this season up by our lack of decisiveness and we exposed our weakness looking for overachievers and falling in love with them. Beside where is the proof we can really make an average QB talent better. There is none.
