Is the NFL reaching a QB crisis?

We all know that the QB position is one of the most demanding and toughest positions in sports to play, let alone becoming a master of. Every year teams try to figure out a way to get better at the position, with the intent of finding that next Super Bowl MVP QB.

But there seems to be a real desperation among teams this year, with QB's getting hurt and back ups not meeting the grade.

Has the NFL finally reached a QB crisis? There just aren't enough guys on this planet who can reach the level of mastery needed to effectively play that position? Will that lack lead to an exodus of fans over time because of poor play on the field?

I don't know. I always wondered with the NFL expansion over the last decades if the time would come when teams just couldn't come up with enough quality QB's to enable every team to have at least 2 of them. That's 64 QB's who should be able to play at acceptable levels as a minimum. Sometimes I wonder if there are realistically even 32 guys who can play at acceptable levels.

Should rules be changed to even out the play of QB's to make games closer, because obviously the NFL won't be able to ensure that there's enough good talent to go around. I'm not trying to promote a socialistic approach but I am concerned about the affect on the good of the sport when many teams can't even put a good QB on the field, especially if their only good QB gets placed on IR and misses a huge chunk of the season.

No sport can guarantee against injury, but when injuries severely impact the quality of the most important position on any team and play on the field suffers, the fans suffer and the sport suffers.

I don't know what needs to happen but what I see right now concerns me.
