I remember a similar situation under head coach Mike Martz.
Bobby April came to the Rams as ST coach with top credentials and ST play gradually deteriorated under him. He was on a hot seat - finally the players advocated for him, went to Martz and a bullying press (Micklatz) and explained that April wasn't given enough reps in practice. Martz complained that he couldn't release his O players from their more important roles just to go practice for kickoffs. April himself, after remaining loyal to Martz, eventually made the same statement: He couldn't field good special team performance without practice reps.
Not saying - just wondering - if a similar situation couldn't be happening again.
