I loved that Lions team of 1970. Lem Barney, Greg Landry, Charlie Sanders, Alex Karras, and many others. They had an incredible winning streak against some of the best teams late that season. The Thanksgiving game against the Raiders was a classic. Billy Sims and Barry Sanders were among my favorite runners of all time. I really like how the Lions have emerged this year.
Having grown up in Tampa, I was excited about the Bucs in 1979 and in the years that followed until they shafted Doug Williams. Living in Chicago in 1985, I really got caught up in the Bears great season. I also like Bobby Douglass, Dick Butkus, and Gayle Sayers on the teams of the early 1970s.
I got caught up in the magic of the Bills when whatsisname had the first 2000 yard season, but that was all tarnished by what happened years later. I was really excited about the Steelers making the playoffs for the first time in 1972, and their playoff game with the Raiders that year was the greatest NFL game that I ever watched (and some would argue that anyone has ever watched).
