McVay's offensive production has experienced a steady decline ever since he came on the scene. The league adjusted to him but he did not adjust to the league as well. McVay's offens began scoring in the low 30s and now is in the low 20s.
There was a bump in production in Stafford's first year but prior to that a slow downhill trend. Now after the '21 SB, two years on the downtrend again but injuries obviously played a huge role last year. This year, not much of an excuse. Most of us were expecting a Rams offense that could score in the mid-20s and then a welcome surprise bump by the gold strike on Nacua and a vastly improved OL should have helped more and brought then closer to 30 pt. games. Yet, the Rams rankings in scoring offense are middling but they fair much better in total yardage. McVay still tends to struggle in the redzone.
What's odd is that the Rams are scoring LESS now with both Kupp & Nacua on the field plus better OL play than before with only Nacua and the OL still adjusting to injuries to Jackson & Noteboom and prior to Dotson's insertion into the starting OL.
I agree with Rams43. Losing top assistants may have impacted McVay's offense more than others realized.
