Les likes to take shots on upside and accept some risk and it probably felt ok to do it where they did it, but the problem is you keep the guy on the roster like he's a future diamond but then you NEED him to produce and guess what... He isn't ready to do the job.
So now we have a talented RB who was beaten out by lesser talents at two teams in college, who had red flags in how he handled things with the TCU staff, and we have to bring in a former cut to do the job because he isn't ready.
Sounds familiar to have depth that cannot do the job doesn't it. Well that's because the way Les Snead has stacked this roster for basically the entirety of his tenure as our GM the depth spots have been incapable of stepping up and doing the job.
Doesn't sound familiar to me. Snead managed to put a roster that won a Super Bowl, appeared in another one, was a top 5 team for 5 straight years, a team that others would study and copy. They couldn't have done that without having quality depth. They were losing many free agents every year and had to replace them with younger players (depth players) and they kept winning. He did this without having a first round pick almost every year and most of his picks were 3rd round or later. So if a 6th round pick who was 4th on the depth chart before 3 got hurt or traded isn't ready to contribute in week 7, Snead sucks at his job? If that's true, what does that say about 90% of other GM's who could only dream about having the record Snead has? Nobody is perfect and Snead like all GM's have made mistakes, but you have to compare him to other GM's, not perfection
And btw he had a great draft in 2023. But this is something he needs to un-F. Because the RB position is killing this offense, as it does every stinking season. Every season I rant about this and honestly I am beyond tired of it.
