Last time we had a combined punter/place kicker we had the best athlete on the defensive side of the ball as holder.
Why not train a DB, LB, or special teams guy as holder? Say, f'rinstance, the return man?
When Nolan Cromwell held, his performance was as near-perfect as you can get. Ask DannyVillanueva.
When his punter/holder left Arizona, Niel Rackers started kicking wide right.
It happens. Holder makes a difference.
We have a never-held-before-in-his-life holder. Not Our kicker misses from every part of the field, none consistently. The dots are too close not to connect. I wonder: Have the Rams looked at the whole picture?
From what I could see on the replays, all the holds looked fine. Maher has to own up to it. It's not the holders fault IMO.
This dude has a history of this kind of stuff. He didn't just start to get the "yips" when kicking with our "holder".
For whatever reason, he just isn't consistent anymore ever since he messed up in Dallas. It seems like it's in his head now and that's a shame. He was a good kicker at one time.
Once a kicker looses confidence, it's not easy to get it back. The problem is in Maher's head IMO, not the hands of the holder and after this last debacle I am not sure he can get his confidence back this year...or next. lol
Snead should have been on the phone with new kicking prospects after that missed XP!
As for our so called "kicker", I can't stand to watch him anyMAHER!
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
