I'm curious as to why they searched his car. Suspicion of DUI? Some type of major traffic violation? It certainly wasn't speeding, or running a red light.
Exactly. Unless they had a warrant (which they didn't) they should only be able to search incidental to an arrest (and this arrest took place after the search). Interesting.
Edit: I should point out that a drug dog can give PC to search a vehicle...but I don't think that's what happened.
