You nailed it.
Van's projected upside never materialized. He did some good things but never exceeded his limitations - which seemed surmountable. His coaches were able to develop other wide receivers and did to some extent with Van, so when he hit his flat-line for competitiveness it's on him, not them.
We got the top end of market value for him in a strategic move that benefitted the Rams. It's time, as my old man would say, to quit the bitchin'.
