obviously meant shutdown. like what mcvay does to his running game.
Which brings up another point. If mcvay was serious about his running game, and serious enough to add some man/power blocking schemes for said running game, why not do more 12 personnel and really make the effort to run.
It's like me saying I'm gonna stop drinking and pour out all my beer but not my bourbon. Either commit to it or don't, but half assing it will not work.
It's my belief that he uses both Kupp and Nacua to operate in hybrid TE/WR roles because they are strong enough and far more versatile than any second TE's on the roster. I think the commitment is to maximize the best players available.
They simply need to commit to creating more successful rushing opportunities. There are several layers to that. To your point, mixing personnel is a component. Then you consider how much time and focus should go the preparation. Do you want to do lots of things well or a few things excellently? I guess that depends on your confidence that you will get the defensive rules you expect to execute against. And who in their right minds would think pounding the strength of Philly's defense with lesser players (at this stage) a wise option? I dunno, Dead. I'm surprised how underwhelmed you are w our OLine. Sure, we need stability at LT, but I really like the job AJ is doing overall. Shelton is the strongest center we've had in several years (though only a little better than average, no?) Both guards are wide, nasty fireplugs. Young...developing...but the makings of a really good unit over time.
