In the years since the jerseys have become so small and tight, we have seen a HUUUUUUGE jump in players "tackling" by lowering their heads and trying to take out the legs. USED to be players were more prone to grab and tackle with something to hang onto. I can see.....as they have done for many decades, O line guys with tight jerseys but I bet we'd see a LOT less use of the head in "tackles".
They want to avoid the helmet to helmet hits that cause concussions. They would much rather see a players knees get taken out instead of getting a concussion.
Ever since the lawsuits about CTE, the NFL has changed the way the game is being played accordingly. IMO, that suit scared the NFL a lot.
They want it to look like they are now doing everything they can to prevent concussions...except call a penalty or eject Fred Warner for a cowardly come from behind hit to the head on a defenseless QB.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
