McVay seems to have hired another OC to be his water bearer or messenger and not much more. LaFleur's recent presser sounded about like that of his predecessor.
He doesn't want to give up control, apparently.
OTOH, he trusts his DC and constituents to do their thing. He has hired some upgrades as O position coaches. His play designing is superb.
An OC calling the plays might make
different mistakes from McVay, but would a fresh set of eyes bring a different vision? It seems to me that McVay's vision is straight down a tunnel of perseveration and distraction at times.
He is an inspiring leader of men and engenders a superb loyalty and high performance from them. I'd like to see that spill over to an OC who could call plays.
