I only saw the highlight reel but it left me shaking my head.
When we ere down to an all but totally inexperienced (one snap???) left tackle, regardless how good he looked pre-season (playing right tackle or guard? I don't remember) I thought: NOW's the time to stick a second tight end in. That rush from the rightside is formatible.
McVay is not a moron. He gets distracted and perseverates. One way to compensate for that is for him to continue to be the visionary, the overseer, the mastermind; by analogy the rainmaker, and delegate the job of keeping the rows straight and harvesting the crop to someone else.
This would translate, for McVay, to overseeing everything, being the offensive startegist and mastermond in conjunction with an OC whom he could trust and delegate to call plays. As-is, it appears that he doesn't want to give up control. He wants the OC to carry his water, and that's all.
It's something he might be well advised to consider. The results couldn't get much worse than what we saw last night.
