Always a good thing. And while that game was fairly ugly overall last night, I agree. That was a clunker of a game for the Rams as far as offensive coaching- poor run/pass ratio, leaving Thomas on an island at LT vs. a Pro Bowler, poor red zone play calling/management, etc.). Stafford was set up to fail. Chalk it up to a bad coaching night and move on.
But also, while the Bengals started 0-2 I still think that is a top-10 (top 12 at worst) team in the league. Rams had their chances- and I think Atwell was in bounds too... But that was never going to be some gimme road win for the Rams.
There have been more pleasant surprises so far (Puca, Tutu, Williams, the OL as a whole, the secondary, their K/P, etc.) than disappointments (Jefferson, Akers, Hoecht).
I penciled in the Rams as going 8-9 this year and I see nothing that changes that. And in fact I feel pretty good that 9-8 is possible too. Has to start by getting back on track on a short week @IND.
Balance, balance, balance....
So much stems from better balance on offense and they did not have that Monday Night. And I really would like to see more 12 personnel usage like in week 1. Whether it's Hopkins or Davis use two TEs more often.
Then, hopefully, Kupp comes back week 5 and then things can really start to come together...
