I'm confused by the article. I thought there was a limit of three times that a player could be moved up (regardless of terminology) and down from the practice squad.
Why would the Rams burn two in a row on these players and still leave empty room in the 53 roster? Or is that what they did?
Anybody have a clearer understanding than I do?
I originally was led to believe that Freeman had a spot on the 53 but that signing him to the practice squad first was a strategic money-management move by the Rams. My best guess about Trammel was that he was brought up as a returner, to save wear-and-tear on starting skill position players and to assume a role on specialteams. Whether this move was intended to be permanent or not is unknown, at least to me.
At any rate, the article leaves me guessing - save for the fact that both players
might suit up for the Bengals game.
