Stafford averages $40M a year on his current deal. That's tied for 10th highest in the league with Dak Prescott and Daniel Jones. For that price I would take Stafford over either of the other 2 guys.
Derek Carr averages $37.5M. Personally I'll take Stafford for $40M over Carr for $37.5M.
Kirk Cousins averages $35M. I would not be in favor of having Cousins as the Rams' QB just to save $5M a year.
By the time Bryce Young, Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Fields, and maybe even Jordan Love get paid maybe Stafford's $40M average will be 17th in the league. To me that makes Stafford's contract look like a bargain.
In what way would you say that Stafford's contract is bad, especially considering at least one other NFL team was willing to part with draft capital and/or player(s) for the privilege of taking it on?
