The NFL has no problem with the officiating, they like the way it is handled. They love making new rules, but also like to ignore the basic rules of the game. They like the idea of making a steadfast rule into a rule based on opinion, a rule that can be morphed into how a person interprets the rule.
It has nothing to do with it being the 1st game and the refs much like the players need to get into "the swing of things"......You shouldn't need to adjust to the games when applying the rule book.
