With that said, I find it difficult to evaluate just how good.
The reason I say this is because he played behind a poor OL last year and this year's unit appears to be only slightly better.
IMO, most of his highlights are generated from Williams literally pulling stuff out of his arse because he's running for his life or has been flushed from the pocket. I know that good QB prospects have to demonstrate improvisation, but it's been to the point that I'd simply like to see him out of a structured pocket to confirm that he can consistently take 3, 5, 7-step drops and deliver the rock. I'm pretty sure he can do it...I just haven't seen much of it.
This isn't a knock on Lincoln Riley or even the linemen. The entire team was in such a state of disrepair that Riley has been using chewing gum and bailing wire (i.e. transfer portal) just to make them competitive. It's both his and Caleb's talents that have made it a legit top-10 team.
But without the cohesion and depth (that can only be accomplished over 3-4 years of consistent recruiting), the team (especially its respective lines) get exposed against the better teams.
But man, he's crazy accurate on the run; appears to go through his progressions quickly; erases player/play-calling errors; tough; and, appears to be a good leader.
His only knocks, IMO, are things he can't control: his size (6-1, 215-lbs) and how quickly that DT will be in his face.
