see.....Sam Bradford
playing great through the preseason, and then some scrub hits him the leg and career gone. An ACL....again !!
at least with the coordinated joint sessions they can still wear the red/yellow jersey, and can avoid the diving at the knees type injuries. Avoidable
as much as I 'd like to see a scripted, one time drive from the first team offense, there isn't enough snaps there to take off the cobwebs.
most of all, this isn't a young Mahomes at QB. He's just come off a lost season.
Yeah, there' no doubt that they'll not being running like a F1 finely tuned race car coming out of the tunnel
Coaches have a couple of sessions here with the Broncos to ramp this up. Notes from them will be interesting.
Injuries happen in the NFL. They are unavoidable.
Last year we suffered more injuries than we had in a LONG time. Well guess what? They didn't happen in the Preseason. So did sitting them in the preseason really accomplish anything???
If an injury is going to happen, it can happen ANYTIME.
In Practices, Camps and Scrimmages too. I think I even remember some injuries happening during OTA walk throughs! lol
I get the "injury risk" involved with Preseason but if you're only playing a "scripted" series or two, in reality, how much higher are the odds of injury?
I am all for being smart about things put if you are afraid of a player getting hurt, maybe you need to put them in better situations to decrease the odds. After all, usually the preseason plays are scripted anyway.
I am not a fan of playing or coaching scared and that's what this seems to be to me.
It's like Morris playing Prevent 95% of the time because he is afraid of getting beat deep...on a 5 win team!
NFL football is a tough, physical game where people get injured every week.
I get the "idea" behind what McVay is doing here and there is the precedence that it "worked" the last few years but this is a different team now.
It's not a team loaded with vets and HOF'ers anymore. The majority of the roster NEEDS all the reps they can get IMO.
Even old man Rogers is playing in a preseason game for the Jets! lol
Mahomes has played in KC and he might be the league MVP!!!
C'mon McVay! You can't throw out the "Grow Some Friggin' B@lls" stuff and then be too afraid to play any starters in a preseason game!!!
For someone as smart as McVay is, I would think he could come up with a way to get these guys some snaps where real contact and tackling is allowed.
Scrimmages and practices just don't do that. I don't care what anyone says, if you aren't going FULL SPEED and be allowed to hit and tackle then you are not simulating true game action and situations.
Only preseason games can do that.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
