It comes down to definition.
He said they talked about trading a bunch of guys but that does not mean
they wanted to move them all. Some may have been a team calling and
asking "what would it take?"
Rams could say a 5th or "not available" or whatever.
So, Lombardi was right---his source probably did talk to Rams but probably
not in a serious way or it did not get too far.
Not far enough for Rams to admit they were dangling him but far enough
they now not fully deny it.
