Rams let Ferragamo (after being one of the top 4-5 QBs in the league in 1980) walk to the CFL in 1981 and have probably one of the worst QB production seasons in their history with Haden and Pastorini.
A year later they acquire Bert Jones- probably one of the best QBs in the league from 1975-78 and seemingly with plenty left in the tank at not even 31 years old when they got him- and he lasts all of 4 games before a neck injury ends his career.
Ferragamo plays good football in 1983 and then gets hurt early 1984 and they throw the ball about 19 times/game from that point with Jeff Kemp.
1985 they decide to bring down CFL all-star and 2x MVP Dieter Brock but at that point he's 34 years old and stands all of 5'11". Plays decent in the regular season helping them win the NFC West for the first time since '79 but plays abysmally in the postseason.
On and on...
