Don't use the word "genius" against McVay like a sarcastic pejorative. Maybe I'm taking your criticism of him too strongly, but I don't think he's claimed to be a genius and IMO he's not a genius coach, but he's a top level coach.
Yeah he has a big ego but when young men have that level of success it's easy for them to get puffed up. He's seen and admitted his faults and has worked to fix them. I admire that as much as his football success.
Yeah, the Tutu pick was horrible and many of us will rue that draft pick for a few more years.
But I can honestly say that I'd not liked any Rams HC more than McVay. He's my favorite and I'm so very glad he's on our team.
I did use that term as a sarcastic perjorative, Coy. Guilty as charged, man.
But in the context of love, respect, and admiration for him as a superb HC overall. He fell short of lofty expectations there and my opinion of him is so high that it stung.
We all do that, I think, from time to time. Like with brothers, best friends, etc. Hard to let such a fundamental error slide when one knows the offender can do so much better. It’s what passionate fans do.
