Re: More to the story

I'm pretty sure the cap hit to sign the Rams rookies is $10.24M. At least that's what this article says [www.turfshowtimes.com] (And they got their info from overthecap.com so I think it's accurate.)

BUT ... only the top 51 players count against the cap. So when the Rams sign their 14 draft picks all the guys from 38th place on down drop off the cap (assuming the rookies will all have a higher cap hit than whoever is/was in 38th place.)

As far as I can tell everyone at the low end of the cap hit list before any of the rookies signed made $750,000. So the 14 guys who get bumped out of the top 51 collectively counted $10.5M against the cap.

Bottom line: the Rams cap space won't change much (if at all) when they sign their rookie class.

Rams with an extra $10 mil in cap space

So, who do we buy for $10 mil? One guy? two guys?

JimYoungblood5389June 14, 2023 09:52AM

8-10 million owed to draft picks alone.

Yep. No money to buy a FA is baked into this. (nm)

  Okay, I stand corrected

JimYoungblood5384June 14, 2023 10:30AM

I thought they had that money budgeted
