Barring injury during training camp, Stafford, Donald & Kupp will not play during preseason all rest should play even Allen & Noteboom to ensure they have recovered.
One would assume so coach den.
But you never know with McVay when it comes to preseason.
As you know, McVay considers joint practices with other teams during the preseason as a pivotal evaluation when deciding his potential starters for the preseason.
It does kind of feel like his 1st year as head coach (2017) when he played starters. Since 2018, coach shut that down and his been consistent with his preseason approach.
Rams Holding Joint Practice With Raiders, Potentially Broncos in PreseasonThe Los Angeles Rams are set to hold joint practice with one preseason opponent and are in talks with another
JONATHAN ALFANOMAY 14, 2023 1:37 PM EDTDuring the NFL preseason, it's common for teams to hold joint practices leading up to their exhibition games. Now that the Rams know their preseason opponents, the process of planning joint practices is officially underway.
The Rams have already confirmed joint practices with one of their preseason foes, the Las Vegas Raiders. The two teams play each other in Week 2 of the preseason on Aug. 19, and according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, they will practice together ahead of the matchup.
The Rams and Raiders previously hosted a joint practice in 2021, the last time they played in the preseason. However, a fight broke out and cut the practice short by roughly 45 minutes. Hopefully, tempers will be a little cooler when they meet again in August.
Additionally, the Rams are also in talks to hold joint practice with the Denver Broncos, who they play in the preseason finale on Aug. 26. New Broncos head coach Sean Payton said the two sides have talked and are progressing towards an official announcement.
“We’re on the road with two games, and I think the goal is to have a joint practice with the Rams,” Payton said. “[Rams head coach] Sean [McVay] and I have talked, and then I know that obviously the ownership groups are connected, and [Rams general manager] Les [Snead] and [Broncos GM] George [Paton]. There’s been no announcement made, but I think our hope and goal is to have a chance to practice here. . . . So our goal is to have a joint practice with Los Angeles and then play that third game.”
Last year, the Rams held a joint practice with the Cincinnati Bengals just months after they met in the Super Bowl. That practice was also cut short by a brawl, much like the Raiders one the year before.
Joint practices give teams a chance to get a look at each other without the stress of an actual game. Having two of them this preseason should only be a benefit for the Rams.
