Until Stafford Rams didn't have a WR1 or WR2---if anyone can even define what that means. I guess they are talking about targets.
In a year like 2021 it's clear, a go-to guy, an All-Pro and for some teams it's a thing.
But if you go by the entire time, it's the Kupp and Woods roles, the Z, and the slot that get the targets. The X is the one he would be
the WR3, if that is what it means. But that is not 100% accurate either.
If everyone is healthy, Kupp will get the most targets, but the next guy could be one of a few people. If the Z position is by committee with the
BYU rookie and Skow and others, then that's one thing. If the BYU rookie assumes that Z role (Woods) then he would get the 2nd most
targets, if you look at history. If it is by committee the the X will get the 2nd most (Jefferson)
It's not WR1, WR2, WR3
Usually, it's single receiver side and trips (2 WR and 1 TE) side. And motion by the TE can change that from on to the other.
