Every time Kupp goes down the offense stagnates. Even happened when we had Woody, it's just not the same attack without Coop. So I think Nacua was a nod to ensuring they have that big sized slot presence who can give them the possession option to move the chains.
Skow was also an attempt at that btw. But he ended up being quite good in other ways, those being lead blocks and move TE type usage to help fill the void of the weak TE room. And he's not a guy who gets open quickly and represents a good volume producer. Nacua is that type who can go high volume in any given game, like Kupp, and give you that big weapon underneath production.
I'm sure they'll move Nacua around of course. Hopefully, though, he'll look good right away like Coop did in this offense and they'll slot him behind him on the depth chart. If that happens the extra advantage is he can eat into some of Coop's snaps and help ensure he's healthy for the playoffs. I mean I am fine with Coop putting up 1500+ again this year but it would be better for us if there's a depth option cutting his snaps down a bit and keeping him fresh. It is a long season after all.
