McVay, at least McVay but perhaps others in the war room, saw Bennett as a potential #1.... NOT as a predestined career long #2. I don't think they take him otherwise. And obviously I do not mean this coming season.
Goes without saying that there is no certainty in a drafted QB.... so the war room didn't bet the future on him but that doesn't mean they don't see him as somewhat likely to become a #1.
First, I love McVay as much as any Ram coach we ever had! He might be the GOAT of our Franchise! But...
I worry a little about McVay's judgement when it comes to Talent evaluation. After all, he thought The Wolf was a better option than Goff!
He did get the Stafford evaluation right but Staff was already a 25 year vet!
Maybe Sean is better at working with the QB and designing plays that help the QB succeed than he is at judging their talent? That's not a "bad thing" either but if true, you better have someone in charge of making a proper evaluation of the position to make up for it.
I am intrigued by the Bennett pick and won''t judge it yet. We will know more after Preseason.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
