Do they REALLY want to?
Or would they rather have those dollars next year, earlier in the offseason?

A vet backup QB has never seemed to be a priority under McVay. Even last year they didn't bring in Mayfield as a backup, but as a starter. I can't see McVay starting that now.

I think they are going to prioritize next year. It would be a big surprise to me to see them sign anyone else this year unless they make room by cutting or trading Higbee first.
