A vet backup QB has never seemed to be a priority under McVay. Even last year they didn't bring in Mayfield as a backup, but as a starter. I can't see McVay starting that now.

I think they are going to prioritize next year. It would be a big surprise to me to see them sign anyone else this year unless they make room by cutting or trading Higbee first.

The have to "want" to bring him in and if they decide he's worth it, I am 100% sure they could find a way to do it. Like you, I don't see them doing it based on their past history at the position.
