This might be a year they lean a little more heavily on 12 personnel. They need a reliable veteran like Higbee. The value of Higbee on the 2023 team (and a possible comp. pick if he went elsewhere in 2024) is
much greater than the ROI from a post-June 1 release.
Allen is a rookie, Long has yet to show he is more than a TE3 and same with Hopkins. I think they are much more inclined to release Hopkins ($1M cap savings) and sign a veteran to a minimum deal at another position. There are also multiple bubble players that can free up bits of cap to add a veteran CB or edge rusher.
