NFL teams don't care about consensus. They make their own evaluations based on their own criteria. Also, there are 32 teams/32 Draft boards and none would be exactly the same.
We know that most teams only have 100-150 player on their draft board. That means some good players will be excluded from some boards because they don't fit what a team is looking for. So there will be times when fans are calling for a player to be drafted by their team and that player isn't on their draft board.
The other thing about the "consensus" that fans are looking at is it's a consensus of people outside of the NFL...media, draftniks, etc.
As 1st Rounder rightly points out, people outside the NFL don't have all the information that the teams do.
Said the same thing to someone yesterday or Saturday that NFL teams stack their own boards and pay no mind
to the things we fans talk about--our draft evaluations, who we think was a steal or a reach.
They don't care.
But as a discussion point, it is fair for folks who don't look up stuff to see that while they may have heard a guy is
is a 2nd round value there may be boards that have him as a 1st or a 3rd and the consensus I am talking about
is about what the average is.
But I am with you. 90% of what fans talk about has little to do with how teams do things but we talk about
them anyway.
