The only weird thing to me is why a few other teams don't follow this same, pragmatic approach and understand that there is a price to pay to assemble a Superbowl team. Small incremental changes and tweaking won't get you there.
The bold move for Stafford was risky--he was (1) expensive in draft capital - left us bare now (2) expensive in money - cap issues now (3) injury history, to a degree, not terrible, but not a rock, either - issues now (4) streaky at time, not terrible but can have the high highs and some lows - hurt us in in 2021 and helped in 2021 -
Goff--1 and 2 were same. (3) he was healthy (4) more steady, but not as elite as Stafford for his lows were not as low.
So they seemed to think they needed Stafford and that extra whatever to get over the top but all those 4 things were double-edge swords . . they cut one way and Rams won it all. Then all 4 cut the other way in the same year. If only a couple of those things happened, if he'd been healthy in 2022, Rams in playoffs because that would mean oline was healthy
In either case, though, 1 and 2 were happening someday, either 2023 or 2024 . . . so, it's 2023---and have chance to be good in 2024. Had it happened a year alter 2024 would be down year and 2025 the resurgance.
Rams went all in, and cashed in.
