drafted him as a junior---but Bird returned for senior year
then NBA passed a rule saying players had to
declare they were leaving school--so no more futures
like that... NBA would take overseas players
and stash them
but as far as the NFL at some point they changed the
draft rules as well, so no more of the once your class graduated
thing to one slightly more complex with the things that make
one eligible for the draft
So, no, cannot do what Celtics did with Bird . . . or things like that
a guy has to now say he's in the draft-giving up his eligbility . ..
then any team has a fair shot to take him
