Thought I'd compare Jahmyr Gibbs to CMC and see how they stack up to one another. Its interesting.
Combine:
CMC:
5'-11"
202 lbs.
30" arms
9" hands
4.48 40
1.52 10 yard split
37.5" vert
10'-1" broad
6.57 3 cone
4.22 shuttle
10 reps 225
Gibbs:
5'-9"
199 lbs.
30 1/2" arms
9 1/4" hands
4.36 40
1.52 10 yard split
33.5" vert
So physically CMC is a 2" taller, outside of that, they are identical. Gibbs is faster overall, but their 10 yard split was identical so same burst. Gibbs didn't do the 3 cone, bench or short shuttle so no comparison on that. But basically from a size and athletic standpoint, they are as close to identical as you an get.
Final college season:
CMC: 6.3 yards per carry - Gibbs: 6.1 yards per carry
CMC: 37 catches for 310 yards, 8.4 yards per catch - Gibbs: 44 catches for 444 yards, 10.1 yards per catch
Again, both averaging a little over 6 yards per carry while adding substantial receiving numbers.
Both backs are obviously undersized. Both are excellent in both the run and pass game. Both are tremendous athletes and give LBers issues in space. So the question is: If CMC is an every down back, why couldn't Gibbs be an every down back?
Anyhow, I thought it was interesting when I dug into these guys how similar they are. I think Gibbs has more wiggle and long speed, I think CMC has better vision and is a tad more patient.
That said, would I draft Gibbs? No.Would I be mad if they did? Absolutely not. The Rams were in on CMC last season and McVay has been on record saying he wants to get he offense back on track. You connect the dots.
