I know he was a ray of sunshine at edge late in the season, but playing a 310 pound guy there seems like a gimmick that's sure to run its course sooner than later. This defense calls for 3-tool OLB's. Hoecht, can rush, probably play the run, but how long before they start passing to his side every time he's in the game?
Given that only he and Brown are our only DL that top 300, it seems to me that he'd be better opposite AD at the other end where he could disrupt on an every down basis. I know that this DL is geared towards tying up blockers so AD can do his thing, but with age and offensive schemes slowing him down, wouldn't a second threat on the D-line be of more use?
But I don't really pretend to understand this defense enough to assume i know best here.
