I just take a deep breath and remember Dick Vermiel's speech to the Rams when he took over as HC.
It's on an NFL video somewhere, but some of you will know the one I'm talking about.
It was the training camp with Trent Green and Kurt Warner.
Vermiel was talking to the team after a hell week practice and said..."Fellas, I have been around a long time and I know one thing that will happen in this camp. Some of you guys will surprise us, some of you will disappoint us and some of you will be exactly what we think you should be. Now, don't forget it's gonna take hard work and we will need all of your effort. One thing I do know. we have a good bunch of football players here....Don't forget that....We have ourselves a pretty darn good team here."
I coached HS Football for 23+ years in SoCal........I agree, some teams surprise you.....Each year is a new year....New faces, players, coaches...Man, I just LOVE THE GAME OF FOOTBALL.
And I always say thanks to the guy upstairs for McVay being our Rams HC!
