I just remembered Al Wisk's radio call of the last Rams' last TD in the 1979 NFC Divisional Playoff game at Texas Stadium which proved to be the game winning score, and it's something that really shows how much the NFL has changed:
"Malavasi, putting his fate in the hands of Vince Ferragamo, the young quarterback: 50 yards away!"
"The game on the line; 2:16 to go ... Hill on the far side, along with Waddy; DENNARD PLAYING WITH A CONCUSSION on the near side; the backs are split."
Ferragamo back to pass; he sets up; he has time; he throws ...
Waddy with the catch at the 25, the 20! Fifteen, 10, 5, TOUCHDOWN RAMS! TOUCHDOWNNN!! RAMMS!!
It is Wisk's matter of fact announcement that Preston Dennard is in the game with a concussion that made me think about how different the entire world of sports has changed since then. I remember being glad that Dennard was still able to play, whereas now, I get concerned when a player gets even one concussion.
