Part of the soft coverage issues this board rails on was not trusting the secondary to hold up so playing soft to give yourself the best opportunity to avoid mistakes. Confusion against above average offenses was frequent. Johnson was born to play our defense. However the league might have caught up to it. I just know the position of FS has never been played as well as Johnson did it during the McVay era. Maybe the Rams would be more comfortable with tighter coverage with Johnson over the top of the opposition's #2 WR, while Ramsey locks down the team's #1 WR. The tight er coverage then allows our pass rush more opportunities to get home, ect, ect.
