As you feared, the Rams would have a tough time moving on from Robinson this year.
If they cut him now it would add $8.5M to the cap so that's not happening. Even if they cut him post June 1 there would be no cap savings this year since his salary for 2023 is guaranteed (and this maneuver pushes $8.4M in dead money to 2024).
If they traded him now the Rams would get $6.85M in cap relief, so from that standpoint I can see the Rams being willing.
But he is due a $5.25M roster bonus this year, most likely at the very beginning of the league year. Teams would probably wait until the Rams paid that bonus before considering a trade, but at that point the Rams' cap savings dwindle to $1.65M. Is that worth doing?
And even if someone trades for AR after that bonus is paid they would still have to pay him $25.7M for 2 years. If there's a team out there willing to pay him that in addition to giving the Rams something for the privilege I'd like to know who it is.
