The 49ers have had extremely bad luck at QB. Yet also they have the luxury, if you want to call it that, of falling back again on their 3rd overall pick from 2021. Lance is being paid $9.3M this year. And this is also the year they need to use to evaluate whether they pick up his 5th year option in 2025.

So they probably start with Lance, find a bridge backup and then hope Purdy can return in some form in late October. Hard for a young QB like that because he's going to miss his entire 2nd year offseason of development.
