likethere used to anyway
Used to be the Coryell system, the Walsh system, the Earhardt
system...then they'd mix and match
now it's all so mixed up, everyone uses everyone else's
I think philosophies are different--49ers and Ravens want
to run the ball and use a FB more, Miami, too.
And the language of how they call plays may be different
but so man yteams use similar formations---you see
McVay bunch on every team every game--3 guys
in triangle and they run routes out of that
and they just try to run concepts that the defense
cannot follow their rules on..
but those concepts---are so similar
Back in the day, Coryell teams and tree guys (Martz)
wanted to go deep, used 3 digits in the routes
and basically Walsh guys wanted to stretch
horizontally, and then maybe take shots and used
names for routes.
Now, the routes are concepts and there may be
3 routes in one "concept" and that concept
may bbe called Dallas on one team or Idaho
on another team but the 3 routes are the same
So, I agree--reich going to Carolin is not a buig loss
but I also think he'd be a fit here, his experience
could have him adapt to McVays language and they'd
just uses McVay's concepts which Reich has to know
how to run . . .
