Austin King is in his first season as assistant offensive line coach for the Bears in 2022.

King brings 10 years of coaching experience - two in the NFL and eight collegiate - to Chicago, having spent the five seasons prior to the Raiders with the Dayton Flyers, including his last three as assistant coach/offensive coordinator.

King recently completed his first season as tight ends coach with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 after serving as offensive quality control coach for the club in 2020.

In 2021, King helped tight end Darren Waller finish sixth in the AFC with 55 catches to go along with 665 yards and two scores despite missing six games. Waller's backup, Foster Moreau, filled in nicely during Waller's six-game absence with 30 catches for 373 yards and three touchdowns.

In his first season with the Silver and Black in 2020, King worked primarily with the offensive line and helped oversee a unit that surrendered just 28 sacks, ranking 10th in the NFL, while surrendering zero sacks against four different opponents. Additionally, the offensive line paved the way for RB Josh Jacobs, who surpassed the 1,000-yard mark and set career highs in rush attempts (273) and touchdowns (12) en route to earning his first Pro Bowl selection.

In 2019, King completed his fifth year with the Flyers and his third as the program's offensive coordinator. King's offense helped guide the Flyers to an 8-3 record and finish in the top-10 of the FCS in the multiple statistical categories, including the No. 1 scoring offense with 42.6 points per game.

For the second straight year, the Flyers' offense averaged over 7.0 yards per play, one-of-six Division I programs to do so from 2018-19. During King's tenure, the Flyers had numerous individual stars, most notably first-team All-American TE Adam Trautman, who was selected in the third round (105th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. In his five years at Dayton, the Flyers went 38-19 (.667), including a PFL Championship in 2015 and a berth in the FCS Playoffs. As offensive line coach, he had eight different linemen achieve first-team or second-team All-League honors.

Prior to joining the Flyers, King spent one season with Syracuse as an offensive quality control coach with a focus on the offensive line. King's guidance helped OL Sean Hickey earn All-ACC recognition while also eventually being signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted rookie free agent.

King began his coaching career at Toledo in 2012, where he spent two seasons as the program's offensive quality control assistant.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, King was selected as an offensive lineman in the fourth round (133rd overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2003 NFL Draft. He appeared in 34 games and made one start over his four-year career (2003-06) with the Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons.

King earned his B.A. in secondary education from Northwestern in 2004 and was a three-sport captain and first-team All-Ohio football player at Purcell Marian High school before graduating and playing four years for the Wildcats as a starter and earning an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors three times.
