No they aren't. We are left trying to get excited about late round CBs that run 4.8s and 5'10" safeties. A lot of things broke our way last year and everything broke against us this year, bottomline we have not had the fundamentals of team building in place for a sustained run. Snead has repeatedly overpaid which required we hit on late picks, UDFAs, and late FA cheap vets. That has not happened.
This is true. At some point you have to expand the talent on the team to more than five guys. Five guys and a bunch of late round picks might be easy to manage on a salary capped system, but your not going to put out a great product in bad luck years, as we’ve seen.
But your best point is the overpayment. You’ve got to sell playing in LA for two reasons. Sure, you want team friendly deals. But you also want guys that want to defend the turf. LA is clearly a despised city. So, do you want to pay a king’s ransom to someone who secretly despises LA, but is ready to cash a huge check, or do you want a guy like Bobby Wagner who defends his home?
